Careers
Careers guidance at GDST schools aims to ensure that students plan to achieve their goals. Our Careers Education and Guidance Programmes support the development of knowledge and skills that students need to make effective preparations for each stage of their education and ultimately for the world of work.
We aim to provide our students with: -
- The opportunity to identify and develop areas of strength and weakness through self-assessment and aptitude testing, leading to an individual careers report and discussion with a Careers advisor to enable appropriate and effective action planning.
- Access to information from providers outside school, including the Minerva Network.
- Comprehensive, up-to-date and unbiased information about careers and higher education.
- The opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to make appropriate choices and successful transitions throughout their time at school and into higher education, work or training.
- Familiarity with the world of work through a work opportunity programme.
- Enhancement of the partnership between the school, parents, careers services, employers and local community.
Several GDST Senior schools hold ‘Investors in Careers’ awards, including Oxford High School , Streatham & Clapham High School, Sutton High School and Howell’s School, Llandaff.
