Links with China
We are actively working in China and enthusiastically seeking opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with education providers there who share our passion for education.
在中国我们积极开展活动,热切寻觅合作伙伴,寻求一切与我们一样痴迷于教育领域的教育专家们的结盟机会。
This is part of a wider development to prepare our UK students for life and work in a global economy, providing GDST students in the UK with an international dimension to their educational experience. This allows us to introduce new languages, promote cross-cultural awareness and prepare our students for life in a fast-changing global society.
Part of this will involve twinning each of our UK schools with an international partner.
另一部分是我们英国成员中学将一对一联袂发展海外姊妹学校。
Case study: Heathfield School, Pinner
Heathfield School and the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) constantly keep under review the way in which we prepare our students for the changing world in which they will live and work. Some significant new developments across the whole school will be phased in gradually over the next 2-3 years, to provide a truly international dimension to the opportunities that we offer. This will help our students take advantage of major shifts in the global economy and patterns of work.
We intend to open a Centre for Leadership and Management as an integral part of an expanded Sixth Form, in a new building. The Centre for Leadership and Management may be available to new entrants on a co-educational basis in due course, but we would consult with current and prospective parents and students before making such a move. Heathfield School will continue on a single-sex basis up to completion of GCSE (age 16).
We envisage using the Sixth Form Centre as a starting point from which to develop enterprise education across the curriculum, and to enrich what we offer to every year group. Enterprise learning is a process that translates across all subjects in both the Juniors and the Seniors.
One way in which we can educate our students for tomorrow is to ensure that they have relevant language skills, enabling them to work around the world and adjust to changing environments. We are all aware of the rapid growth in the Chinese economy, which is set to continue in the future. With this in mind, therefore, we are delighted to announce the introduction of Mandarin into our curriculum from September. We are also looking at ways to build links with schools in China.
We’re thrilled about the promise of these developments to bring benefits to every student and across every part of the school.
