We welcome and value our partnerships with organisations that share our values and vision.

HSBC Education Trust

HSBC Education Trust has sponsored the GDST Summer School for the past two years, and this year a third of the participants attended from schools sponsored by HSBC. We are delighted that local HSBC directors and management trainees contributed to the Summer School programme as panel members, advisors and speakers. This employee engagement counted towards the trainees’ credit in the HSBC Advanced Management Programme and was a valuable experience both for the trainees themselves and for the students, for whom interaction with ‘mentors’ in this age range is clearly of great interest.

The Summer School is the latest development in a fruitful relationship that has developed between HSBC and the GDST. Our relationship with HSBC is a model for other partnerships with organisations that share our beliefs. This collaboration now encompasses the HSBC scholars programme, generic financial skills training and the summer school. The former HSBC Chairman, Sir John Bond, is a GDST Fellow.

HSBC also supports access and diversity in secondary independent education, by providing scholarships for able children who enter some of our schools from the state primary sector.

Ogden Trust
A small number of our girls with particular talents in maths and sciences who join our Sixth Forms from a state school are supported by the Ogden Trust.

The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust
These Sixth Form bursaries are available to the daughters of commercial travellers, grocers and chemists.

The French Huguenot Church of London Charitable Trust
This Trust provides emergency assistance, via the GDST Centenary Committee, to students suddenly unable to pay their fees due to a change in family circumstance.

School-specific scholarships and bursaries
Some of our schools also have long-standing relationships with local charities and businesses providing bursary and scholarship support. For example, some Portsmouth High School students have financial support from the Rank Organisation, and a number of students at Sheffield High School are supported by Sheffield Bluecoats and Church Burgess charitable trusts.

John Lyon awards are means-tested, and only available at Heathfield School, Pinner, and South Hampstead High School.
